The Young Evils are Troy Nelson (guitar/vocals) and Mackenzie Mercer (vocals) with: Cody Hurd (guitar), Michael Lee (bass) and Faustine Hudson (drums). The Seattle-based band self-released their debut album, “Enchanted Chapel,” produced by Barrett Jones (Nirvana, The Melvins, Pussy Galore) in August 2010. “A Just Built Beaming Light” was selected by KEXP 90.3 as Song of the Day on Aug. 20, 2010, and NPR selected “Get Over It” as Song of the Day Oct. 25, 2010.

Maybe we should tell the story of the old imagination aging ready for a steady incline. We'll all make new ideas and thoughts that take a hold replacing ancient theories searing up toward the sky. And we'll watch them run, run, run to glory on a just built beaming light. We'll take our chances over just repeating being what we've been and what we find. Let's state out case and let's erase the face of holding onto something 'cause the one thing that its holding is time. A golden era, a pair of lovers trying to figure out the doubt that's 'bout to lead to glasses of wine. And we'll watch them run, run, run to glory on a just built beaming light. Track Name: Get Over It
It was a house out by the lake. We rocked and walked 'till it was late. And as luck would have it, we caught a cab it drove out across the state. 'Cause we had to get out of town, far from the party we had found, and all the people there were all unaware and all the cops were coming down. My mind is searching for something I wanna say. Their love is so stationary, while ours wants to run and say, "Get over it." Yeah well that's where it all starts, from beating odds to broken hearts. And with one eye covered you'll find another, yeah well that's where it all starts. So you could learn this all from me or you could learn it not for free. Or you could go defend 'em, get bit with venom, then in love you'll wish you'll be.

Let's talk about the way it is and have no doubt. I'm sure that everyone around here knows just what we have found. Let's make our move and shatter patterns made by moons. We'll dance until delirium sets in, then make our own tune. This fire feels fine 'cause it can't burn out and I don't have a second thought, on second thought I do, but I do think a lot. And save your chances for a road less curved. 'Cause it burned me twice but I have learned. I heard he's out, god damn he always bums you out. I hear he's stuck on you again that's when I was thinking out loud. Let's cast him out, the devil on a one way route. We have a train that'll take you down across the state to a twon where people welcome the change. No looking back, no dropping out. No more wasting our minds just sayin' we've better days. The money made is never spent; you're either strong or hell-bend on what's considered a game. Towering over the building in flames, it's tangible and twisted too. I guess I'm a dreamer and you're a believer in dreams that never come true. Ohhh two nights ago we were kneeled down and stoned you played my "My Shadow in Vain." It fell through the speakers and as I grew weaker I knew I'd never be the same, ohhhh. I'm sleepwalking and I'm walking away from the gray clouds and rain then you said, "keep talking." But it's tying the noose around my nervous head. We go on. Like a day, like an hour. And I never set the alarms. To be sure that one day I may sleepwalk back into your arms. Now what's left slips back a minute or two appearing like cracks in the walls believe me I'd fix them all, oh I'd buy more clear thoughts yeah I'd buy more reason and truth. And I'd buy a stop sign and place it in front of my mouth next time I see you. Ohhhh.

Following the track, smacked back from the top to the bottom of the seas and I know you work so hard to hide what you outta be. So put it all back, or draw it on a map for me Then you concentrated on a faithless state as indicated by your leap. You jumped too far out of bounds to not fool the referees. So jump right back or draw it on a map for me. And I know that you're out there now and time ticks by like passing cows and no one in the herd has heard of you or what you're hurting can mean. I wish I may I wish I might but wishing 's bullshit, ain't that right? So I'll just stick to truth. With you're cold cold quiet no I just don't but it but I'll try it silently. This town is a bad dream, a bad idea burning out but I'll stick around for the war. I saved her on Friday she couldn't cried I swore, but I'm in a place where I get entangled by ropes that are tied t0 your door and I'm shattered by the days gone by, invisible diamonds in your bright blue sky why pretend we never met before, why climb a ladder just to end up in the same place we started before. Now what did you feel when your mass appeal had gone down? Unfolding the letter you wrote. They keep coming closer, they had to figure it out but you couldn't chase them or even face them it would never have un-evened the score. And I'm shattered by the days gone by, invisible diamonds in your bright blue sky. Why pretend we never met before, why climb a ladder just to end up in the same place you started before. And it sounds just like the same old story that you haven't heard before. And it feels ust like your heart is soaring but you're nailed down to the floor. It was a blind expedition of a simple mission taken too lightly and a high, high holiday of cuttin' holes in the floor. Well you could take your money (uh oh) and jump in your car but now we're all surrounded, down down now is where we're going the place that they were talking about. You found a flaw and took it with you with a vengeance uh oh. Gasoline and tubes that stream it on the road now as you go. You burned a path down the wicked highway 101 oh uh oh oh. The rear view is as bright as diamonds in the sun, they should've known. Now they can take their money (uh oh) and jump in their cards but now they're all surrounded down down now is where they're going the place that they were talking about.
